Events:
October 14, 2009 – Y USA and CDC Visit – ACHIEVE Project Manager, Lynn Davis and Centers for Disease Control Healthy Communities Project Officer, Branalyn Williams, participated in a one-day visit of the Southcoast of Massachusetts region.
October 20, 2009 – Members of the CHART begin Mass Forum VII – Massachusetts Partnership for Healthy Communities. This is a nine-month educational process of coalition building; skill training; knowledge and team building for groups around the Commonwealth who are engaged in projects to build healthier communities.
October 2009 – May 2010 – ACHIEVE/Voices works with Mass in Motion partners in Fall River and New Bedford. Both cities were awarded grants from the Governor of Massachusetts new initiative in working to encourage more residents to lead healthier lifestyles. Meetings were held: Oct. 29, 2009 Kickoff Meeting; Jan. 13, 2010 Partnership/Working Meeting and May 5, 2010 End of Year 1/CAP Meeting.
November 13, 2009 – 10th Annual Legislative Breakfast, Greater Fall River & New Bedford, encompassing two Regional Community Health Network Areas including 17 communities from Fall River to Wareham – “Building and Sustaining Healthy Environments - ACHIEVE Coaches delivered Keynote Presentation. Meeting was held at White’s of Westport. Our menu was a “Heart Healthy Breakfast” and now a new option on their catering website 1/2010.
December 17, 2009 – Safe Routes to School Workshop for all area school districts.
January 26, 2010 – Receive $5,000 Mini-Grant Funding from Greater New Bedford COAST.
To sponsor Mark Fenton at the Healthy SouthCoast by Design Summit in March.
February 9, 2010 – MA YMCA Public Policy Day @ Boston State House.
Representative John F. Quinn, Dartmouth and ACHIEVE CHART member receives “Legislator of the Year” by the YMCA’s of Massachusetts.
March 22 – 23, 2010 – Healthy SouthCoast by Design Regional Summit and Strategic Planning Session with Mark Fenton.
April 7 – 9, 2010 – Presentation by Nancy LaRue Bonell of ACHIEVE/Voices for a Healthy SouthCoast Coalition at 2010 Joint Conference of SOPHE and CDC’s Prevention Research Centers Program.
April 16, 2010 – Presentation by Donna M. Querim of ACHIEVE/Voices for a Healthy SouthCoast Coalition at the Southeast Regional Healthy Dialog with MA State Health Commissioner Auerbach.
June 7, 2010 – Mass Forum Graduation – CHART members complete training: ACHIEVE/Voices Coaches: Nancy LaRue Bonell & Donna M. Querim along with Judith Coykendall, Pauline Hamel, Kerry Mello, Marcia Picard, Jim Rattray, Bill Shell and Amanda Szot.
